Pack Your Gear and More in the SPC/LST System Duffel

Duffel bags are often underappreciated as a vital component of travel gear. Whether you’re a meticulous packer who relies on packing cubes or someone who throws items in and hopes for the best, duffels are incredibly forgiving. The SPC/LST System Duffel, in particular, stands out for its good looks and impressive features.

Versatile Duffel Bag

The SPC/LST System Duffel boasts 55L of internal packing space, making it an ideal choice for travelers. The internal compartments keep items organized and easily accessible. One side features a padded pocket that can fit a 13” MacBook, while the other side has smaller zip pockets for storing essentials like water bottles, keys, phone, wallet, or passport.

This bag has accompanied me on various trips across California, including a night at Okaeri Calistoga in Napa Valley wine country and a weekend at the beach at Santa Cruz’s La Bahia Hotel & Spa. Its durability and water-resistance have withstood rainy days, and I wouldn’t hesitate to check it in if needed.

The SPC/LST System Duffel is constructed from waterproof Challenge Ecopak® recycled Cordura®, renowned for its durability. While I wouldn’t intentionally submerge it in water, it has handled rainy conditions without issues. As someone who prefers not to check bags when flying, I feel confident in the bag’s ability to withstand handling.

Design and Features

The duffel can be used in two ways: flat, like a portfolio bag (23.75in x 12in x 9in), or as a traditional duffel bag (23.75in x 12in x 9in) by clipping loops on all four corners into carabiners. I prefer the latter, but the bag is convenient to store when flat.

Additional Details

The rivet-enforced leather handles look great but may feel stiff when thrown over the shoulder. However, with time, they may soften. The SPC/LST System Duffel comes in two colors: Ranger Green and Black. I tested the Ranger Green color, which effectively hides wear and tear, but I’d love to see a vibrant color option added in the future. The bag is priced at $350 on the SPC/LST website and comes with a lifetime warranty.
